Optical resolution of the pyrometer

Pyrometers and thermal imagers, Optical resolution of the pyrometerPyrometer (radiation thermometer) – a device designed to measure temperature of various objects (items). Stationary devices are installed on the shop floor and operate continuously online monitoring. Mobile (portable) pyrometers are used for measurements in inaccessible or dangerous places.

Some models of the pyrometers can measure the temperature of the point (area) of the controlled object, others provide an opportunity to get a picture of one-dimensional (two-dimensional) temperature distribution on a specific area or section of the measurement object.

Scope

This measuring device is used in different industries:

  • Forensic science;
  • Medicine;
  • Production of ceramics (glass);
  • steel
  • Energy;
  • Building trasl;
  • Manufacturer of paper, plastic, semiconductors, etc.

Optical resolution

Optical resolution of the pyrometer, pyrometers, thermal imagers, infrared window

A radiation thermometer has many important characteristics. These include e optical resolution of the pyrometer, a measure of sight). It is determined by the ratio of the diameter (D) stains on the surface (this radiation is recorded by device) to the distance (S) to the subject. For the right selection of the optical resolution of the device it is necessary to know the scope of the instrument. For example, the required temperature measurements of the object with the four-meter distance. In this case, infrared thermometer, optical resolution which is 4:1, not suitable.

A radiating surface will have a larger diameter, which will lead to entering the field of view of the measuring device foreign objects (objects). In such operations it is recommended a minimum resolution of 50:1, like the BALTECH TL-0208C. Show of sight 4:1, having a large minimum area of radiation, suitable for measuring small distances.

Note that the accuracy of measurement will decrease significantly when incorrect targeting infrared pyrometer at the area greater than the area of the controlled object (the object). Therefore, all modern thermometers can be equipped with special laser pointer target. It allows to precisely direct the device to the desired measuring object. All thermometers from the company BALTECH have a laser pointer and a buzzer for exceeding the threshold, which helps when conducting measurements.

Three options

The main criterion for precise measurement – overlay the spots on the surface material. It can be:

  1. Correct. Measurement accuracy not affected by distance and is determined only by the characteristics of the device;
  2. Critical. The spot diameter and the size of the surface of the measured object are equal. Measurement error may increase;
  3. For the critical. Decreases the accuracy of the measurement, so measurement is not recommended.
